Quebec, November 23, 2021 – Passing before the Public Finance Committee of the National Assembly to comment on Bill 6, law enacting the Act respecting the Ministère de la Cybersecurity et du Numérique and amending other provisions , the Association québécoise des technologies (AQT) welcomed the opening of a new chapter in the transformation digital government, in addition to sharing with parliamentarians various points of vigilance and eight recommendations to ensure the success of this major project.

While the government is giving itself the means to achieve its ambitions to achieve the digital transformation of the state, the AQT recalls that a cultural change in practices is nevertheless necessary. The concentration of state expertise should allow greater harmonization of procedures while providing more significant space for the integration of new innovations.

Given the constant advances in the digital and cybersecurity fields, the AQT believes that it is necessary to create a regular point of contact between specialists from the Government of Quebec and private organizations that are at the heart of innovations. This is why the first of the eight recommendations concerns the creation of an Advisory Committee made up of experts from the Government and the private sector to advise the Minister on this highly evolving critical subject.

In addition, the AQT wanted to point out that the government has the opportunity to implement its vision to encourage local purchasing and Quebec entrepreneurial development, in s ” ensuring that the full contribution of local businesses to digital transformation is optimized. Among the tools that will be deployed and enhanced, note the catalog of solutions. On this point, the members of the AQT expressed their wish that this often unrecognized vehicle be communicated more proactively to the ministries and user organizations.
