The key pillars of a merger & acquisition transaction

Standalone workshops or a complete 4-session program
Fall 2026 session

In an M&A transaction, value is not determined by price alone, but above all by the company’s level of preparedness.

In 2026, rising competition and the integration of AI are accelerating the pace of mergers and acquisitions in the technology sector. Quebec business leaders are seeing it too: according to the 2024 AQT Barometer.

48%
Tech CEOs are planning to grow through acquisitions
47%
 are considering a merger
45%
say they would be open to selling if a competitive offer materializes

✓ A proven format — successfully launched during the spring session.

But intention does not equal readiness. Whether it involves selling, acquiring, or transferring the business, each option requires rigorous preparation — especially in a technology context where the key issues involve intellectual property, recurring revenue, talent, and integration capacity.

The four workshops, “The Key Pillars of an M&A Transaction,” give CEOs of Quebec technology SMEs the tools to structure, plan, and lead a growth or succession project before urgency starts dictating decisions.

Who is it for?

This cohort is designed for CEOs and key executives of technology companies — including CFOs, VPs of Product, and General Managers — who:

  • are considering a merger or acquisition in the coming years
  • want to be ready if an offer comes their way
  •  wish to structure their company to maximize value, even without an active transaction process underway

A complete program, session by session

1.  The key stages of an M&A transaction — buy-side and sell-side
2. Valuation and the main negotiation mechanisms
3.  Due diligence, including technology and intellectual property considerations

4.  Post-transaction integration: culture, talent, and systems
