Through on-the-ground consultations, extensive representations to government authorities, and the production of a comprehensive report conducted with BDO, the AQT put forward concrete recommendations in favour of a more realistic, flexible, and sector-adapted approach. Consultations and representations with public decision-makers
AQT has commissioned Aviseo Conseil, a firm specializing in economics and strategy, to produce a portrait of the technology sector and assess its contribution to the Quebec economy. The goal of the study is to strengthen the positioning of the technology sector in Quebec and, from a public policy perspective, to highlight the key role of tech companies within the Quebec economy.
Preliminary results will be forthcoming.
For several years, the AQT has been actively engaged on this issue by mobilizing its members, participating in government consultations, and putting forward concrete recommendations to improve tech SMEs' access to public contracts, foster innovation, and modernize procurement processes.
Nearly 40% of AQT members interact directly or indirectly with public procurement, reflecting its strategic importance for both the industry and public services.
More recently, as the Quebec government prepares to evolve its public procurement strategy, the AQT is ensuring that the realities of tech companies are fully taken into account.
New recommendations coming soon.
At the end of each parliamentary session, both at the Quebec and federal levels, AQT analyzes bills, government directions, and policy decisions likely to have an impact on the technology sector.
These reviews help business leaders better understand the issues influencing the business environment, anticipate upcoming changes, and track the evolution of strategic files for the industry.
