Vincent Bergeron is the Leader of ROBIC’s Emerging Technologies Group. He specializes in the protection, defense and commercialization of intellectual property assets related to information technology, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, software, video games, internet of things, virtual reality and other emerging technologies. He also practices in the fields of privacy, copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, industrial designs, licensing and technology transfers.

Author of more than 160 publications and conferences, Vincent Bergeron has been invited as a speaker on intellectual property and emerging technologies by many prestigious organizations around the world.

Vincent Bergeron is involved in leadership roles in several local and international organizations, including as International Chair of the YMC Committee (Young Members Congress) for the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), after acting as Chair of the North American Committee. He has also been President of the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Division, for the Information, Telecommunications and Intellectual Property Section. Moreover, he is one of the cofounders of the crowdfunding platform “La Ruche”, dedicated to financing projects throughout Quebec.

Vanessa Deschênes is a Leader in the Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity sector and is part of the Emerging Technologies Group within the firm. She has extensive expertise in personal information protection, privacy, data governance, compliance and information technology law. She offers strategic advice on the best practices to adopt, whether it is during the implementation of a new technology, the marketing of a new product or during a crisis situation, in particular in the event of a security, complaints or investigations by a Privacy Commissioner. Vanessa uses her expertise to help companies properly manage the legal risks associated with the use of data while creating added value for the company and its client.

In addition to holding an MBA, Vanessa Deschênes has several certifications in the field of privacy and holds the title of Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), which recognizes her leadership and expertise in this field of activity.

Before joining ROBIC, Vanessa was the very first Chief Privacy Officer of a major Canadian financial institution, which earned her the prize for Legal Advisor of the Future at the of the ZSA prizes for legal advisers of Quebec, in 2018. She was also a lecturer at the Polytechnique de Montréal as well as at the Faculty of Law of Laval University.
