The AQT invites the Quebec government to stimulate exports by adapting its interventions to the needs of local technology companies

Montreal (Quebec), February 14, 2022 – As part of the 2022-2023 pre-budget consultations, the Association québécoise des technologies (AQT) has set itself the objective of participating in the identification of measures that can contribute to a structuring economic recovery. and focused most of its recommendations on stimulating export revenues, an ambition shared by the Quebec government.

After two years of pandemic, the demand for technological solutions is growing and will continue to increase in the years to come, bringing a greater possibility of opportunities for the Quebec industry here and elsewhere. It is important to eliminate the obstacles to marketing and exporting and to put in place the appropriate levers in order to develop this full potential.

The recommendations in brief

  • For a Marketing and Export Support Program (PSCE) better suited to the needs of Quebec technology companies seeking to conquer new markets.
    • Increase its agility to meet the needs of innovative sectors.
    • Expand eligibility criteria to reflect new ways of marketing.

For new innovation marketing levers.

  • Set up a pilot project to make eligible a maximum of two commercialization resources per SME, while improving the tax credit for scientific research and experimental development (SR & ED) or the credit for the development of e-business (CDAE).

For financial support for international marketing.

  • Set up a fund intended to grant loans dedicated to international marketing, inspired by “Créativité Québec”.

For Québec offices abroad that generate international business opportunities.

  • Ensure that trade commissioners in Québec offices abroad are informed about Québec technology companies with exportable products and services in order to promote or even create international business opportunities.

At the local level, and to support all sectors of economic activity

  • For a C3i better suited to a digital transformation that is increasingly taking place in SaaS (software as a service) mode.
    • Replace the term “investments” with “expenditures” in order to clarify the spirit of the measure and make implementation and user costs generated by businesses eligible.
